My answers of the questionnaire to evaluate the online activities, included in the EfS 162/53 Summer 2004 , online 6-week syllabus .

1) Yes, the project objectives and procedures were clear .

2) Yes, my teacher gave me enough instructions on how to do my online lessons.

3) The online activities were not very difficult and not very easy if you did not do them before .They were normal and they will be easy if you just follow the instructions accurately.

4) I presented my final project individually and i really enjoyed working on it . However , i worked in groups . My family helped me a lot especially my sister Fatma . Also my friend Hajer , she was very kind with me .

5) I think that the online activities really helped me to improve my English and my computer skills . Because i have to write the assinments and post them in my blog or the teacher's blog . And this improve my writing skill. Also i have to read the instructions , announcements and the procedures in our yahoo group and in the teacher's website and follow them and that improve my reading skill .

6) we took 3 or 4 sessions at the computer lab because it was a summer course and i benefited a lot of computer' s skills such as creating an e-mail , blog , recognizing our yahoo group and using the PowerPoint application .However , we could take more sessions if it was the first or the second semester because we would have the time .

7) I really enjoyed doing the online activities . However , doing the self-test was the most enjoyable online activity.

8) This syllabus was very useful . The book itself " Reading , Etc. " includes very interesting topics such as the knowledge economy and cities in the sea . I learned a lot of new information from these wonderful topics . I wonder if you can add the pages of our syllabus on line so that they become available and everybody can read and learn online .

9) This is not my first time to write and to present a term paper . However, it is the first time that i presented my term paper using the PowePoint application which i learned how to present by it .

Finally, i really enjoyed my EfS 162/53 Summer 2004 , semester. And i want to thank my Dr.Buthaina Al-Othman for her great work , throughout the course and i wish her the best .

Violent Crime On The Rise , by Thomas Campbell

In " Violent Crime On The Rise " (Detroit Today , January 30 ) , Thomas Campbell discusses the spread of violent crimes that increase in the U.S. and their reasons . The first reason is the easy access to guns . Since almost anyone in the U.S. can buy a gun . The second reason the author mentioned is the constant craving for drugs that result in committing many crimes under the influence of drugs . The last reason is the overwhelming poverty which causes to lack of basic necessities such as housing , nutrition , education and medical care . In conclusion , the writer mentioned the ways to reduce the violent crime such as the education , stricter gun laws and tighter controls on drugs .

Activity 2 (Why Do Some Animals Die Out ? )

In " Why Do Some Animals Die Out ? " article , the writer discusses the reasons of the extinction' s of some animals . The first reason is people who spreading over the land resulted in destruction of animal's homes such as Hawaiian birds . The second reason is hunteres who killed so many animals that are extinct , presently . Another reason is pollution that caused some animals to become rare and may die out . The last reason is the changes in climate that affected the food , which cannot grow in some places , any more . This caused some animals to die because they cannot adapt to the new environment .

Activity 3 ( The Morgan Motor Company )

If you want to go back to 1920s or 1930s , you should visit the Morgan Motor Company factory in England . The cars are still made by hand the old_fashioned way . The factory can make only about ten cars per week . You will not like to buy a Morgan if you want an easy ride,power steering,brakes and a car radio.In the other hand,if you want the motoring thrill,bumpy ride and quick response steering enjoy a Morgan .
